"Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars" - Khalil Gibran

“DAYLIGHT” Official Video|Goldfinger & The Butterfly (Electronic Soul)

You are now entering an alternate sound dimension.  Goldfinger & The Butterfly have taken over your soul.

Goldfinger aka Ray Angry (Grammy nominated piano virtuoso / producer) & The Butterfly aka Kendra Foster (Grammy winning singer/songwriter) have teamed up for a seductively tasty treat called “Daylight“.

When I first caught the teaser, the chorus literally echoed in my head for the day and was in my dream that night.  Kendra’s songwriting ability is remarkable to say the least.  Her ability to create memorable songs that are heartfelt and pure, makes her a rare breed in the sea of under talents.

Her voice is one of my favorites with it’s raspy soul, enunciating effortlessly.  It rides the enchanting Ray Angry production symbiotically.

Now the production is minimal, but so filling.  It’s just enough and don’t overstep it’s sonic boundaries.  I love how it’s mix/mastered, the rawness of the sound empowers it’s presence.

After the 2:40mark, the breakdown becomes glorious.  That’s Goldfinger all day, magical and unpredictable.

The landscape is captured in the official video as they share personal energies creatively and colorfully.  The textures have a spiritual undertone, as music is the conduit to alternate dimensions.

Get connected.

Doing what she does best, Kendra and Ray shining…

Kendra rocking it out at Rockwood Music Hall.  Dope song as well, peep the vibes.

Goldfinger (Ray Angry) in a Jam session with legends and Master’s of the Craft.   Can you guess who?  If not, you need to study the art of music more.

Peep the connection and level you have to be at to sit in with such a group.

These aren’t microwave musicians, they are professional acoustic rule breakers that have dedicated their life’s time to master their instrument and learn the art of it.  They studied the greats in addition to those that didn’t confirm to music norms.

I mean, this is the type of music you’d want to absorb and learn from.  Then transfer it to sounds that you may produce, sing or compose.  Digesting shit, will give you diarrhea… digesting straberries will give you strawberry fields.  Now which one do you want?

  • Marinate on that… strawberry fields

The point of it all this is, Fuck With This Dopeness for it will raise your consciousness…

And that’s #thebrooklynword.

Short Film: “Blue Diamonds” | Patrick House (Comedy)

ISAwards.jpg

A fan of Patrick House yet?

Well take into consideration his short film “Blue Diamonds”.  Official selection Atlanta Comedy Film Festival, Gold Award, Silver Award and it continues shining brighter in film competitions.

It’s about a group of friends dealing with erectile dysfunction decide to resort back to their thieving ways to solve their problem and make some extra money in the process.

Peep the trailer below…

One thing for sure, it looks like a funny ass adventure.  Patrick House smooth camera action makes the trailer pop.  Gotta salute the music supervisor, cause the soundtrack fits the landscape perfectly.

Following it up with the video for Marcus Machado’s – “I Can’t Lose” only cemented House’s creative visions.  He’s strategic and meticulous yet simple.

While I didn’t see it yet, the clip below had me dying but in a feel good way.

It reminded me of family, it was relatable and at the end of the day that’s the only thing that matters.  A film that conveys trust within the viewer, dope job!

I’m still bugging off the bio lol, yall are wilding.  Loving the humor.

Official Video “I Can’t Lose” – Marcus Machado ft. Jermaine Holmes (Directed by Patrick House)

Thank you Patrick House for these tastefully soulful visuals for Marcus Machado – “I Can’t Lose” feat. Jermaine Holmes.

The official video starts flowing cinematically introducing the characters from House’s  2017 short film Blue Diamonds starring Tony D. Head, Sarah Doneghy, Jas Anderson, Ronald Smith II and Menuhin Hart.

The video intertwines with the movie at a local club where Marcus Machado and his super band of highly respected artist are gearing up for a set.  Jermaine Holmes, Redd Middleton, Kendra Foster, Lez Lemon and Shawn Dustin are prominently cool with the soulful vibes.  Peep the review we did where we go into details.

I somehow missed that Kendra Foster aka The Butterfly was doing bg vocals but it make so much sense.  As not to many can distinctively convey funk in the way that she can along with angelic funky crew harmonizing in along side her.

We already went into Marcus Machado talents in a previous post, but seeing him in the zone on the guitar brings it all into perspective.  This is music that runs through your body.  Feel it my peoples…

Watching it play out, makes me wanna see “Blue Diamonds“.

Sup Patrick, can we catch that media release?

Vibe Out to The Soul Cyphers | Soul Train Awards w/ dj Erykah Badu

For the love of soul…

There’s no better teaching tool then to watch the best new and classic soul singers rock it in a cypher.  These artist exemplify a control over their art where energy is transferred through sound.

Everything about these vibes are right.  The frequencies universally beaming into our heart and soul is simply melanin magic.

Music from the soul can never be captured, for it is pure energy.

Pras (Fugees) Shares Industry Gems On Hot 97

Dope interview with Pras | Fugees.  The brother knows how to crush the questions and maintain control.  He’s informative, intellectual and concise in thought.  A pleasure to watch indeed.

Ebro’s line of questioning had a tone of respect and there weren’t to many loaded questions that Pras couldn’t handle.   Laura Stylez and Peter Rosenberg where equally respectful but poignant with questioning.

I like seeing this respect for those that have paved the way, and yes, Pras has done his part when you do your homework and understand his real position within the Fugees.

Culture Vultures

I didn’t know that he was so aware and open to discuss the hypocrisies in music, politics and the culture.  He kinda set it off early on starting from here…

Taking A Stand

On Lauren Hill Not Writing/Producing

…according to Robert Glasper claim.  Here is where after the warm buttering up, Ebro now gets to what we all want to know.  It wasn’t to sneaky but definitely a different direction from earlier questions.

After listening, you get that Pras acknowledges that Lauren Hill writes all her material.  As for producing, that’s another complicated matter that can only be negotiated because of the many technicalities.

This is where if any reading this is an artist, play close attention.  A lot of gems being dropped about publishing rights and credit when creating music.

Great stuff, dope job Hot 97 and Pras.
